![]() A PROPOSAL TO THE UNITED STATES-JAPAN FOUNDATION |
h. exchange of information concerning development of teaching materials: asking the counterparts in the U.S. to collect materials for the understanding, of the U.S. etc. |
i. ex post facto study and evaluation: conducting model teaching, opening our homepage on the Internet, publishing comprehensive reports (including a collection of reports by individual teachers), publishing a collection of teaching materials directly related to students' understanding of the U.S. at school, and a book (with limited circulation) which contains a whole perspective for U.S. understanding, a collection of pictures and a plan of model lessons, and (if possible) creating a network of information exchange among the universities in Japan, and between the U.S. universities and Japanese universities. |
5. Project Impact and Sustainability |
We believe that we will be able to obtain quite a lot of important practical information about America and to enhance understanding of the United States for the purpose of teaching through this project. Thus the outcomes of our project will surely improve the effectiveness of teaching of America at least in this region. We are planning to build our homepage on the Internet to disseminate our expected results or products. We also plan to make a regular study group on the U.S.-Japan relationship in this area after this project is over. We are thinking that we will corroborate with certain public organizations, for example, the Joetsu International Association, in terms of long-term funding plan. By the way, the president of the Association is the mayor of the city of Joetsu and the vice-president is Prof. Kato, President of the Joetsu University of Education and cochair of our Committee. |
6. Evaluation |
We ourselves will review and evaluate the program under the USJF's advice, and will utilize each item of the review for the following year's program. |
7. Project Personnel and Management |
The project staff include experts of teaching of social studies, history, geography, and/or the U.S. affairs. Thus they are well qualified for this project. |
